Depression is common in people with MS
Am I going to feel OK today? How far can I walk this time?
These are questions that I ask myself on a regular basis. It's difficult to plan activities when you feel so limited.
The thing about depression is that it can worsen MS symptoms. It can be a vicious cycle.
This is why I sometimes need a kick in the pants. Get up! Get out of the house! Get some exercise!
Exercise is wonderful for depression. You feel more powerful, more energetic, more positive. I don't mean running marathons. Get on a stationary bike. Walk on a treadmill if you feel like it. Yoga is beautiful, it feels great to stretch your muscles and keep yourself limber.
We need to keep our spirits up. Go out with friends! Cuddle the cat or dog or pet chicken....whatever will cuddle you back. Keep in contact with family and friends, they are there for you if you need them. Don't isolate yourself, that's the worst thing you can do!
